MyChart Features and Updates

On this page you will find a complete list, with brief descriptions, of the features that MyChart offers patients. This page will also include announcements of updates and new functionality for MyChart in 2019.

Features - Updates


Proxy Access (My Access to Others):
Proxy access allows you to access another patient's MyChart account. Proxy access can be used for parents who would like access to their children's records, or for adult patients wishing to grant access to other adults. As a proxy you can take advantage of MyChart's features as if you were that person. In order to gain proxy access for your children, you must make this request in person upon checking-in for one of their outpatient visits. If the child is under the age of 15 the staff will be able to grant you proxy access. However, if the child is 15 years of age (or older) you and your child will need to complete the release of information form provided by the front desk staff. Once you have completed this form, the staff will be able to grant you proxy access to their records using MyChart. Similarly, adults wishing to grant proxy access to other adults will need to complete the release of information form before the proxy access can be granted.

Health Information (My Health Record):
The health information that you are able to view using MyChart is pulled directly from your electronic health record. The health information that you can view using MyChart is listed below.

    Download Health Summary

    Download your health summary in a Continuity of Care Document (CCD) format. The CCD contains your: Allergies, Current Medications, Current Health Issues, Test Results and Immunizations as you see them in MyChart. You can put this information on a USB drive and you can take it with you wherever you go and give it to other organizations where you're seen for care.

    Recent Visits
    In addition to your health information you can view information about recent outpatient visits and hospital admissions. Recent Emergency Department visits will be available on the Recent Visits page. For each visit you can view a summary report, which contains information like vital signs, patient instructions, etc. For admissions you will see a list of past hospital admissions, which include: the date(s) you were admitted and discharged and the unit to which you were admitted. If you click on an admission you can view the discharge instructions that were given to you.
    Test Results*
    Test results can be released to MyChart by your provider. We are now also automatically releasing some test results after 4 or 14 days, depending upon the test result. * In order to view your test results, they must be released to you by your healthcare provider. In addition, there are a small number of test results that are not viewable in MyChart, due to how they are resulted in our system.

Appointment Scheduling/Viewing/Cancellation (My Appointments):
Using MyChart you can schedule, view, and cancel upcoming appointments. Specifically, MyChart allows you to schedule outpatients appointments with providers that you have previously seen. If the provider that you are trying to schedule an appointment with is not listed, or if there are no available appointments for the dates/times that you specified, you can request an appointment. Also you can view the details of your upcoming appointments. For example you can view appointment related information pertaining to directions, telephone number, instructions, etc. Lastly, if needed, you can cancel an upcoming appointment using MyChart.

Secure Communication (My Secure Mailbox):
MyChart allows you to send and receive secure messages from your outpatient healthcare providers and clinical staff. As a patient, MyChart will allow you to send secure messages to providers that you have seen in the last 2 years. You can also add attachments to the medical advice messages that you send to your healthcare providers. The types of documents/images that can be attached include (files ending in): .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .pdf, .tif, .tiff. Note: each document that is attached cannot exceed 5MB.

Medication Refill/Renewal Request (My Secure Mailbox - Request Rx Renewal):
MyChart allows you to send a non-urgent request for a prescription refill to your pharmacy. If you have no refills remaining, a renewal request will be sent to your doctor's office. Note: Due to state and federal requirements, some medication renewals may require you to come in to the clinic to pick up a paper prescription to take to your pharmacy.

Account Information (My Account):
MyChart also allows you to view information about your patient accounts. You can pay your OHSU Medical Group and OHSU Hospital bills with a credit card, view and update your address and phone numbers, and view your basic health insurance information (Payor, Plan, Member Number, and Effective Date).

MyChart Account Information (My MyChart Account):
You can also update your email address, notification preferences for appointment-related messages (You will always receive notification of new messages, test results, billing statements/letters, and after visit summaries), and change your MyChart password. You can also view an Account Access Log which displays all instances of users (yourself or proxies) who have accessed your MyChart account, and Admissions/Visits viewed, downloaded or sent to other healthcare providers.

MyChart also offers a way for you to ask technical questions, get help, and offer feedback by sending a message to the MyChart Help Desk.

Health Library:
Find general information on health issues, medications, allergies and immunizations via the HealthWise search engine. Type your keyword(s) in the text box and click the Search button.

Lucy & MyChart Central (My Linked Records):
MyChart Users now have access to Lucy and MyChartCentral, via the buttons in the My Linked Records menu. Lucy will help you to keep a personal health record that contains your allergies, medications, medical conditions, and other important information about your health. Data that you enter in your personal health record can be shared with clinicians who take care of you. MyChartCentral is a web site that helps you organize your health information. It's a portal to all of your online charts, allowing you access without entering your username and password for each chart. With MyChartCentral, you don't need to remember a handful of passwords and visit multiple web sites looking for your medical data: You can find it all in one place. Click the button in the My Linked Records menu to get started.
